ENGLISH TEACHER AT THE GERMAN SCHOOL WASHINGTON D.C
The German School Washington D.C. is looking for an English teacher.
BEGINNING OF EMPLOYMENT
Starting school year 2013-14
GENERAL INFORMATION
• This job description applies to a locally hired teacher, who is recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education and who has a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree plus 30 graduate credits or has passed the 2nd German State Exam for Teachers.
• The teacher instructs students in grade five to grade 12 using the curriculum of the German School Washington.
• This position consists of 34 hours per week, 20 teaching hours for classroom assignments and 14 hours for duties outside of regular classroom duties (preparation, supervision, responding to parents and staff in a reasonable time frame, cooperation assignments, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
• Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress. Duties of this Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
• Maintains accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
• Assigns and grades class work and homework.
• Observes and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students.
• Uses computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
• Meets and confers with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.

Linguistic Proficiency in German is not mandatory but the willingness to acquire German language skills is strongly expected.

Vertretungskräfte an der Grundschule
Die Grundschule der Deutschen Schule Washington, D.C. sucht dringend flexible Vertretungskräfte mit Erstem und/oder Zweitem Staatsexamen oder vergleichbarer Ausbildung! Für Vertretungen in der Schuleingangsstufe (Vorschule für Fünfjährige) und in der Betreuung bis 17.00 Uhr (Aftercare) suchen wir auch Bewerber/Innen mit beruflichem Hintergrund wie Sozialpädagogik oder einer Erzieherausbildung.
Die Vertretungseinsätze fallen oft kurzfristig stundenweise an und können in der Zeit montags bis freitags von 7.55 Uhr bis 13.30 Uhr bzw. 15.10 Uhr oder 15.00 – 17.00 Uhr vorkommen.
Dieser flexible Arbeitsplatz ist besonders für Kräfte geeignet, die in der Nähe der Deutschen Schule wohnen bzw. ihr Kind/ihre Kinder ohnehin zur Schule transportieren.
