Manager: School Bookstore

Responsibilities

- Handling all aspects of ordering, receiving and distributing textbooks and stationery from vendors in Germany and the United States

- Handling the sale of textbooks and school supplies to students and parents

- Compilation of book lists according to subject areas and grade levels

- Communication and coordination with department heads, teachers, parents and students in order to determine requirements for orders as well as projected demand

- Consultations with students and parents both in person during opening hours and via email and/or phone

- Used books: buy-back and sale; maintenance of used book inventory lists

- Management and inventory of new books, other materials through Retail Management System (RMS)

- Perform annual inventories

- Reconciliation of Cash Reports

 

Qualifications

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German

- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

- Prior experience working with Retail Management System (RMS) desirable

- Motivated self-starter, able to work independently, attention to detail

- Ability to communicate proactively and excellent customer service skills are required

- Experience with generally accepted accounting practices and financial management desirable

Substitute Teachers at the Elementary School

Substitutes at the German School Washington D.C.

The Elementary School of the German School Washington D.C. is urgently looking for flexible substitute teachers who hold the First and/or Second German State Exam or a comparable degree! We are also looking for applicants who have a background in social work or a degree in early childhood education to work in the School-Entry Level (5-year olds) and in the aftercare program, running until 5pm.

Substitutions will often be assigned on short notice and can fall into any time Monday through Friday, 7:55 am to 1:30 pm or 3:10 pm or from 3:00-5:00 pm. These flexible hours are particularly advantageous for substitutes who live close to the German School or have to transport their own children back and forth to school already. We will accept applications from candidates who hold a valid US-American work permit.
