Manual for Parent Representatives
In every school there is much work to be done for parents. The DSW is no exception and here parents have always made a strong contribution. As volunteers they not only support the teachers when it comes to organizing events and celebrations, they participate in a variety of projects and actively participate in the school’s development.
As members of the Parent Council (Schulelternbeirat - SEBR) you can make significant contributions and make a positive impact for your children, for the parents and for the German School. So that the newly elected parent representatives can have a good and quick start and in order to help them familiarize themselves with the traditions and already reached milestones of past Parent Councils, we have published a handbook, in which the responsibilities and duties of parent representatives, as well as the role of the Parent Council and the structures of the German School are explained. This year’s handbook has been edited by a Parent Council working group (Handbuch AG). Every new member of the Parent Council receives a copy when elected. A .pdf copy can also be downloaded from the password protected pages of the Parent Council on this website.
With this handbook the experiences of parent representatives can be passed along and current parent representatives can pass along helpful hints and tips.
Not only that: Past achievements will not be forgotten and parent representatives do not have to „reinvent the wheel“ every year, but can continue the work of those who came before them.
