Alumna Valerie Huber: Miss Earth 2014

DSW Alumna at Miss Earth Pageant in Manila

On November 29, 2014, our former student Valerie Huber competed for the “Miss Earth 2014“ crown in Manila. The 18-year-old faced other Misses from 150 countries in the pageant. Earlier this year, Valerie qualified for the international competition by winning the title “Miss Earth Austria 2014”.

Miss Earth is one of the three biggest pageant organizations in the world. The winner serves as the speaker for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nation’s Environment Program und dedicates her time to social and environmental projects.

With her self-made video about her humanitarian work in Africa, Valerie impressed the panel already in September and won the title “Miss Earth Austria 2014”. In Manila, participants had to convince the jurors in different contests and speeches. Even though the title went to the Philippines, Valerie won the “Top 10 most outstanding ECO Video - Miss Earth 2014 "award.

The Austrian native attended DSW for four years. At the age of 12, Valerie moved to Washington, D.C., with her family where her father worked as World Bank Executive Director. Since 2012, Valerie lives in Vienna where she finished high school and currently studies drama and political sciences.
