Board Elections

Invitation to the Membership Meeting

Dear Members,

as already announced, our second ordinary Membership meeting will take place on

Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

This meeting will take place on-line via videoconference. To join the zoom meeting please follow the Zoom link in our email sent on May 29, 2020.

To vote via an online voting platform in accordance with the by-laws, the election committee has submitted a motion to the Board of Directors that the membership waive the requirement for an in-person vote and conduct the election electronically via Election Runner (see motion).

The membership will vote on this motion during the videoconference Membership Meeting (see agenda), and the on-line election will be open starting after the membership approves the motion until 1 hour after the end of the membership meeting.  Election results will be announced by e-mail as soon as they are available.

You can read and/or download the applications from the candidates in the password-protected area of our school website under ABOUT US > School Society > Election 2020: Candidates for the Board of Directors. Please review the applications and think about, who you’d like to make decisions on your behalf. The Board represents all society members, including YOU.

On Election night, the candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves. You may email questions for the Candidates to the Election Committee no later than June 7, 2020 to election2020@giswashington.org.  After the Candidates have introduced themselves, a moderator will ask the submitted questions. If there is still sufficient time remaining, the election committee would like to give members the opportunity to ask any follow-up questions.

The following candidates are in alphabetical order:

Claus Aagaard, Dr. Andreas Kotzur, Stephan Lissinna, Cindy Nagy, Martin Offutt, Jon Rosenthal, Christian Schneider, Dr. Kai Staak, Dagmar Tawil, Hekja Werner

Motions put forth by members must be submitted to the Board no later than 5 days before the Membership Meeting which, in this case is Saturday, June 6, 2020. Please send your motions to vorstand@giswashington.org.

Important:  Each meeting participant may speak in whichever language they feel most comfortable.  If you will need translation during the meeting (into either English or German), please send an email to boardassistant@giswashington.org no later than June 7, so that we may make appropriate arrangements.

Reminder: On Monday, June 1, the Election Committee will test the Election Runner voting system. You will receive an Email with a link to the sample ballot. Please participate in this test voting and let us know if you have any problems accessing the ballot.

The Board and the election committee is looking forward to your attendance.

With kind regards,
