DSW Spelling Bee 2015

Another suspenseful DSW Spelling Bee came to a close on January 22, 2015, with such challenging words as “hirsute,” “palliative,” “spoonerism,” and “wherewithal.” This year’s 22 class champions proved to be excellent spellers. And the last round was especially exciting because the two final contestants were “not to be daunted by the most gigantic word in the dictionary!” Ironically the winning word was “misfortune.” The Bee was a great success thanks to our guest moderator, former DSW English teacher, Ms. Minami; our very capable organizer, Ms. Meuschke; our dedicated jury, Ms. Cropsey, Dr. Jackson, and Ms. Vorwerk; and our photographer, Dr. Dreher. The DSW also thanks the Friends of the German School for their generous support.

The winners are:

1st place:  Julian C. (7A)

2nd place: Demetrius D. (8A)

3rd place: Jacqueline H. (6B)
