Field Trip to the White House on December 10, 2015

Finally the day had come! The students of the entire School Entry Level of the DSW were on their long awaited field trip to the White House in Washington, D.C.

This unusual opportunity was made possible by Joshua’s mother, Ms. Stacey Pham, who works at the White House.  How lucky!  The children and their teachers rode the school bus to Washington, D.C.  Many of the children’s’ parents were expecting us at the visitor’s entrance, often along with the siblings.  The entire group consisted of almost 150 participants.  Ms. Pham went all out organizing this!

At the entrance we had to wait in a long line. However, the kids waited very patiently.  Luckily, the weather cooperated and the sun was shining in the bright blue sky.  We presented our passports at two check points and had to pass a metal detector.  Finally, we entered the White House, which is beautifully decorated for Christmas at this time of the year.  The children, parents, and teachers all admired the 51 Christmas trees, the artificial snowmen in the gardens, representing the individual American States, the window and table decorations, the wreaths and much more.  Excitedly, the parents and teachers took many photos.  In the end we all were exhausted and happy to be sitting on the bus to return to the school.

It really was an incredible day!
