DSW at EU Open House

Every year, the EU member states invite the people of Washington D.C. metro areas to get a rare view inside their embassies at the EU Open House. Last Saturday, May 9, 2015, thousands of people visited the German Embassy which hosted a variety of exhibitors, including DSW.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Colopy, Mrs. Ellenrieder and Mrs. Pibal our young and talented scientists demonstrated interactive experiments and placed special emphasis on our school’s science program. Thanks to the support of our school mouse and gecko, our booth was especially popular among young visitors while their adult companions learned more about life at DSW from Head of School Waldemar Gries, Deputy Head of School Jurgen Sarpe, Preschool Principal Mojdeh Khojasteh, SEL-Principal Dorte Hardage and High School Coordinator Rene Joerg. Volunteering parents were also present to give a first-hand account of their experiences at our school.

In the afternoon, our Student Choir and the German American Choir performed under the direction of Music Director Rasmus Frederich. Both choirs impressed the audience with a broad repertoire of songs and gave a flawless performance.

Another exciting EU Open House came to an end. We would like to thank all parents, students, teachers and staff for supporting our school at the EU Open House. We are looking forward to be part of the event again next year!
