New Activities in the SEL Afternoon Program

For the first time, the SEL offers this school year three external courses for the children attending the Afternoon Program.  These include Fiber Arts, Board Games and Yoga.

The children rotate between these courses on a weekly basis and therefore have the opportunity to participate in all three programs. These courses are designed to promote developmental growth for the children, which will all be of importance for the following school years – Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills and Social and Emotional Competencies – besides specific compentencies based on the given task.

In addition, the SEL has conformed its Afternoon Program this school year to the program of the Elementary School offering a Language Afternoon every Thursday. The children will be grouped into one English  and two German classes, depending on their language status. Therefore, we will work on a basic vocabulary for the beginning learners of German, as well as on continuing language patterns for the advanced students, which will help the students in 1st grade to orient themselves linguistically.
