News from the Cooking Class: Japanese Kitchen and Culture at the German School

On Friday, October 1, 2015, in the cooking class of our third and fourth-graders the topic was “Japan”. This class is taught by Frau Gleitz-Schellkopf und Frau Schmid-Waßmuth. Ms. Sami Paine and her daughter May (3a) showed the third-graders how to prepare sushi. Meanwhile, “junior consultant” Mateo Meier (3b) taught the fourth-graders how to put on a kimono, to play Kendama and to write Japanese signs. At the end, we all ate the homemade Japanese rice rolls. The following Friday, the grade levels switched aprons and calligraphy quills and the fourth-graders were in the kitchen.
