News from the Health Room

Dear parents,

It's been a busy start of school in the Nurse’s Office. With all the students, faculty and staff back together; it seems we are passing some unwanted germs around. I have seen students with various health complaints. Fortunately, I have no reported cases of Pertussis (whooping cough) or the severe respiratory virus caused by Enterovirus D68 which has been reported in the news recently.

I have been seeing many students with the common cold, a virus that manifests itself with a fever and congestion, along with a virus that manifests itself with gastrointestinal issues, sometimes with a fever.  For the health and well being of the school community, please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Students who have had a fever may not return to school until they are fever free (without any fever reducing medicine) for 24 hours.

On a final note, it's not too early to get the Flu vaccine! I strongly recommend this vaccination.

As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns about your child's well being while at school.
