Robotics at the Preschool

Lennard K., Matthias M. and I made a smart decision this year. We chose Robotics as our FuF course! In this course we learned how to build and program our own robots using Lego Mindstorms. The robots can be used to build a variety of things, from color sorting systems to musical instruments. One of the things we enjoyed the most about this course is how much freedom we get from our teacher, Herr Thiemeyer. He lets us decide what kind of robot we build while giving us technical advice such as the best and simplest ways to build them.

Our group built an M&M sorting machine. We programmed a robot to separate the chocolate pieces by color. It can recognize yellow, red, blue, green and brown, placing the pieces in the respective boxes via a converter belt. It was not an easy programming task but we were successful. Where should we proudly present our invention? At the preschool of course, where everyone loves chocolate! It was a lot of fun working with the little ones. Even while forfeiting most of the M&Ms, we were very happy that everything went so well and we consider this project a success.

And we already have a new idea for second semester!
