Workshop with World Champion in Ballroom Dance from Germany
Our dance students are preparing for their Winter Ball on 23rd, January 2016.
In preparation for this event Mrs. Dagmar Pertsch had organized a workshop for the young ladies with the cosmetics company Mary Kay that took place on Monday, December 14, 2015..
The girls received a skin analysis and color consultation and were introduced to the secrets of the decorative make-up. A big thank-you goes out to Mrs. Leslie Kane, the top-seller in the region for Mary-Kay! Mrs. Winda Barkeling gave a helping hand and practiced the "correct walk" on the dance floor with the students. We thank Mrs. Barkeling for her expertise.
Everybody was excited about the tips and assistance.
On the first day of school after Christmas break, all dance students were invited to participate in a workshop with Mr. Rudy Homm, German World Champion in Ballroom Dance.
Mr. Homm is a personal friend of Ms. Jennifer Cho, mother of a second-grader at the DSW, who has organized and sponsored this workshop.
Thank you Ms. Cho for this experience!
Many thanks to the teachers who allowed their students to leave their regular class schedule to participate in this amazing workshop.
Mr. Homm introduced the students to a new part of their Waltz routine and together with our dance teacher, Mrs. Claudia Schalk, they rehearsed the new steps very successfully.
We have almost reached the end of our Ballroom Dance Class and we are looking forward to another wonderful Winter Ball.
Several students asked about continuing the dance class and we are currently talking with the school about the possibility. We will keep you posted and let you know as soon as we have a decision from the school.
The Friends of the German School would like to remind all parents to register for the Winter Ball by January 15th, 2016.
Everyone is invited. Tickets are $ 120.00/per person, including Champaign reception, main course and all non-alcoholic drinks. Please contact the Friends at email@example.com .
