The Canterville Ghost

- a musical for children based on the novel by Oscar Wilde –

On Tuesday, May 27, 2914 at 7:00 pm, we cordially invite you to the musical „ The Ghost of Canterville“ presented by the Theater- und Chorus-AG 5-7 in the Assembly Hall of the German School Washington.

An amusing chronicle of the tribulations of the Ghost of Canterville Chase when his ancestral halls became the home of the American Minister to the Court of St. James.

The Canterville Ghost is a study in contrasts. Wilde places the American Goodman-family in a British stately home. He creates stereotypical characters that represent both England and the United States, and he presents each of these characters as comical figures, satirizing both the signature tastes of Americans and the determination of the British to guard their traditions. Sir Simon as tragic character who is condemned to eternal life stands in perfect contrast to the business-minded Goodman.

Our music was written both in the UK and in the US: listen to Adele and Aretha Franklin!

Admission free, donations welcome.
