World Day of the Book at the Elementary School

On Thursday, May 8, 2014 – the World Day of the Book – author and illustrator Jennifer O’Connell visited the Elementary School. She read from “The Eye of the Whale” and shared the many steps involved in writing and illustrating her book. After she showed our students how she sketches whales in pastel she unfurled a self-made, life-sized painting of a newborn baby blue whale that is 23-feet long. Before leaving, she autographed books which made her visit even more memorable for the children.

We thank Mrs. Wrausmann and Mrs. Eberhardt for the organization of the event, the many volunteers for their help and the Friends of the German School for their sponsorship.
